The Adelaide Crows are the first of two teams established in South Australia, having been founded in 1990. They hold the title for the highest final ranking of any AFL expansion club in their debut year, finishing 9th overall. The Crows play their home games at the Adelaide Oval, having moved from Football Park in 2014. The team has seen much success, appearing in 15 final series in their 30-year history. In 2020, Adelaide received their first-ever Wooden Spoon title, finishing last at the end of the fixture.

In 2006, the club made history by becoming the first club in VFL/AFL history to have more than 50,000 members. They broke that record in 2007, signing up 50,146 members after only round one of the season. In 2023, Adelaide recorded a new club membership record with 68,536.
