Mars Stadium

Mars Stadium is the major AFL-standard sporting venue in Wendouree, Ballarat, Victoria, formerly known as Eureka Stadium. It’s an outdoor oval located within the Ballarat Showgrounds that was redeveloped in 2016 to host elite football, and has regularly hosted Western Bulldogs AFL and AFLW home games as part of the AFL fixture. The venue’s capacity is about 11,000 spectators, with roughly 5,000–6,000 seated, and it provides accessible facilities, lighting and a quality playing surface for top-level matches. Currently undergoing a significant redevelopment as part of the Ballarat Major Events Precinct, Mars Stadium is having around 5,000 new permanent seats added (raising seated capacity toward 10,000), along with improved amenities and a new athletics track and pavilion across the precinct, with works expected to finish in late 2026. These upgrades are designed to boost the match-day experience, strengthen Ballarat’s role as a regional sports hub and support future major events beyond AFL football.
