GWS Giants are the newest team to join the AFL, having made their debut in 2012.

They are one of only two Sydney based teams, along with their biggest rivals, Sydney Swans. The Giants play their home games at the Spotless Stadium in Sydney, and also at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

In the nine AFL seasons that GWS has competed in, they have made the finals four times. 2019 was a massive year for the club, marking their first-ever AFL Grand Final appearance, and their first-ever Coleman Medallist in Jeremy Cameron. The Giants were the best team on the road in 2023 and were within 1 point of making the 2023 AFL Grand Final. There are high expectations for Adam Kingsley in 2024.
